Hello. I’m Tom. Welcome to my Blog.

Just a little bit about me. I’m an English teacher by profession. What level is none of your business.

However, given the purpose of the blog and connected podcast, here are some basics:

My favorite movies are Roshomon, Chinatown, Network, Star Wars, and Taxi Driver. Sunset Boulevard should also be up there.

My favorite directors are Martin Scorsese and Stanley Kubrick, but I wouldn’t say no to anything from Akira Kurosawa.

My favorite authors include William Shakespeare and Christopher Moore. Don’t know who Moore is? Look him up. I’ll add Jim Butcher to that list because I tear through a new Dresden Files book when I get one.

My favorite fictional character is Batman because I’m a big geek at heart, and he’s probably the patron saint of big geeks.

Favorite Shakespeare works? King Lear and The Winter’s Tale.

I’ve known my podcasting partner for over twenty years. I don’t know if she’ll blog here.

And that’s that for now.

Oh, and then there’s the cat.

I get some heat for that cat.

Her name is Silvia. She is, as of this typing, ten years old. I grew up with dogs, so why do I have a cat? Two reasons: I live in an apartment and lack my own yard–dogs need a yard–and my ex-wife loved cats. We had two.

When my ex-wife moved out, she left Silvia behind. Silvia always liked me better, so it worked out fine. But she’s in a lot of pictures because, well, she stayed. She didn’t have a choice, but she stayed. When I’m at home, it’s just the two of us. That’s why she’s up there. She’s a good kitty who keeps me company.
